TITLE:

No Ballet Shoes in Syria By Catherine Bruton

WHY WE LOVE IT:

English Teacher and children's author, Catherine Bruton, felt inspired to write a modern version of When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit, written by Judith Kerr. Her inspirational story centres around an eleven year old girl called Aya who arrives in Britain and seeks asylum from the war in Syria. While attending a ballet class, Aya's teacher spots huge potential in her dancing capabilities. Will Aya and her family win the fight to stay in the country and will Aya earn a ballet scholarship?

A heart-warming story which will amplify your empathy for others and challenge your views on refugees. Children who enjoy ballet dancing will appreciate the beautiful ballet references.
